This contest ends at Midnight PST on Sunday, November 22nd. That means make your comments now or forever hold your peace.
Tchochkes has partnered with PILLOWfolly on a contest for our wonderful readers. As a way to say thank you for reading Tchochkes (and a way to show off PILLOWfolly’s incredible pillows) we are offering one lucky reader the chance to receive one of the pillow covers below.
The rules are very simple. Pick your favorite pillow and make a comment explaining why it’s your favorite. That’s it. This contest is running for one week and ends on Monday 23rd of November. Open to readers worldwide. PILLOWfolly will choose the best comment and that reader will get one of their GORGEOUS pillowcases. I only wish I could enter…
I had debated with myself – and even asked ppl on Twitter – if I should make comments with my opinion or not. My original instinct was yes, because I love to give my opinion and I’m full of them. Plus I know a lot of our readers love to argue my opinion, and who am I to deny them this pleasure? At the end I decided not to give opinions – until later in the contest. I’d like to know what you think first. So check back later this week for what I think.
The pillows were chosen between Patti and me. I love all but one that Patti just adored and I was like “Huh? Seriously? Um. Ok, just for you.” This is the beauty of design – we don’t have to agree. Extra points (but no prize) if you can guess the one that Patti loved which made me angle my head to the left with a confused look on my face and go “WTF?”
The choices are:
I know which one is my favorite and why – the question is – which one is yours?
The winner will need to deal with any local tax issues, legal issues and what have you. (For example – in Israel the winner would be paying 16.5% VAT upon arrival because the value of these pillows + shipping is over 50 USD.) Otherwise the cost of the pillow cover and the shipping are covered by PILLOWfolly (thank you PILLOWfolly!)

I love love love the Italian seashore. Having been born in Italy all things Italian are sentimental to me. The scenic home and landscape put me in mind of my family, my roots and traditions that define me.
My favorite is the Lighthouse Scenic Toile because of the pom-pom trim! I have a feeling that the pillow of contention is either the Italian Seashore or the Antique Urn pillow just because they’re so different from the rest.
Don’t actually like any of them, sorry. But do like the idea of competitions, so please keep organizing them and maybe the next one will be more to my taste…
Nicole,
That’s interesting. Do you like any of the ones on their site? Or do you generally not like pillows at all?
-s
I love pillows, and have an eclectic collection at home, but just don’t like these ones. I went to their site now and took a look, and none of them particularly excite me. Sorry 🙁
I’m with you Nicole. I wanted to like one of them, I really did, but my reaction was just kind of “meh”.
I love the folk art print with stripe flange, firstly since that very green is my favorite color and a dominant tone in my home. Secondly, I like the contrast of the stripes with the floral. The stripes keep it from being too “girly.”
I’m having a hard time choosing between the Coral Silk Plaid and the Lime Paisley. They would both look great in my home, and have a modern but warm sensibility. The Paisley brings back the 80’s and is special looking (plus lime and burgundy is my favorite color combo); the Plaid is just cool and clean and would make the room pop. I think I would ultimately go with the Plaid simply because of how it will lift my spirits every time I look at it. Plaid has that quality for me. Simply Happy beats out Nostalgia and I pick the poppin’ plaid pillow.
hmm, tough call, not easy at all for me…I know what instinctivly I would go for but it’s really more about what kind of theme you would like to give the living room…
I don’t really need pillows, however,…that said, instinctivly I would go for Lighthouse Scenic Toile, because it’s blue, because it’s delicate and because it instills calm or serenity.
Also love the Italian Seashore because it’s rather cheerful.
I love the orient modern one! My colors and I have a very much Asian ethnic theme going on:) I’ve been thinking I need a little pillow for my little couch and this one would be perfect:)
Mmmmm . . . . so many choices and so many places where one of these lovely pillows would find a good home! Can I adopt them all? 😉 The lime paisley print is calling to me as a fun little fellow, with a playful spirit and yet, the coral and aqua plaid pillow seems like his personality would be a better fit. I’ve got the perfect side chair where he can spend the rest of his days, looking out of the window and enjoying a little sunshine. (Protected of course, because of his silky coat!) So, if you think I can be a good “pillow parent”, thanks for letting me bring him home. I promise I’ll take good care of him!
The Rooster. Why? My husband is French and “cocorico” is their battle cry. (I’m not French – I’m Californian – but I still have to listen to him crow.) Just kidding. Our house in the French country side dates from 1659 and the interior is decorated with rugs and tapestries that reflect that period. Our theme colors are red, green, and gold which show up in the heavy brocade draperies for winter and the lighter cotton curtains for summer. I already a spot picked out for this guy: in the salon, on the red canapé. (Now don’t ask me where I hang my beach towels.)
I like the orient modern floral b/c its a well done modern representation of an exotic style. Do I get to choose it if I win? 🙂
So, that’s what you get when you ask a guy t choose a pillow, but I promised in a different forum today to share my opinion.
I’d be honest that I wouldn’t select any of the above, but the closest match to my personal taste would be the coral/aqua plaid pillow.
Cheers – and congrats to the happy winner!
Palma Tropical! Bright, clean, crisp in character but comfortable in form… Am I describing a PILLOWfolly pillow or a glass of Chardonnay? Both would pair well with the ripe pomegranates hanging in view from the living room window in sunny California this month.
So many of these pillows have great traits — I think Italian Seashore is my second fave. Dare I suggest that French Country was the one that won clemency thanks to Patti?
I bet you thought your lil’ Sis would choose the light house toile. Love it, love the bauble fringe but the Italian Seashore is just too cute!
The WTF pillow must be the Silk Plaid. A bit of the old Sesame Street song “one of these things is not like the other ones…!
I’m a big fan of the orient modern floral pillow. I’ve always loved a brown and orange color combo, and I think it’s a fresh take on a really traditional pattern. I can imagine it sitting in a great cane back Louis chair.
Antique linen for me..so pretty.
I really like many of these pillows but the one I like best is the Folk Art Print with the green background. I love the color combinations, I love the brightness and freshness of it. It just puts me in a good mood and makes me happy.
My second runner up is the Flora Imperialis. I guess I have a thing for flowers today.
The Lime Paisley Pillow, without a doubt. I had a thing for paisley since i was a teenager, yes yes, 80’s stuff. And besides it always makes me think of Prince’s album Paisley Park. Now just imagine me sing 🙂
Flora Imperialis – it seems almost alive.
I LOVE the Antique Urn Linen pillow. The softness looks very cozy and the vintage look is my favorite. I had a difficult time choosing as I really like all of them!!!!
I love the “Lighthouse Scenic Toile.” It reminds me of our decision to retire to the beach. Despite the fact that we do not always take time to walk and explore its wonders ~ this little pillow serves as a constant reminder that “life is good.”
The “French Country” is beautiful! It matches my “French Country” kitchen and living room, right down to the roosters…I had to convince my friends that I was NOT becoming the “crazy rooster lady” who collects roosters, but this one is RED and precious – how could I resist? 🙂
My favorite is the Italian Seashore pillow. I went to Italy for my honeymoon and traveled and each day work up and could not believe i was surrounded by soooo much beauty. The colors in this pillow are so pretty and when i first clicked onto the picture it made me smiled and remember the wonderful time we spent there. I love pillows and this one i could just hug and its bring back a very fond memory.
Thanks for sharing!
Here’s why I love the Palma Tropical 22″ Pillow:
The print is bright and uplifting and very current looking.
The style is classic, but also transitional, and therefore would look great in a modern or traditional setting.
The color combo, at first glance, would seem limiting, but in fact, red and white goes well with almost any palette, and clashes with none… think about it!
I like the generous 22″ size for real impact.
It would look great on my red sofa!
And last but not least, I have a personal “thing” for red and white, which I went into at length on my blog, http://www.gaitainteriors.com under “Red and White and Pretty All Over”
My favorite pillow is the Italian SeaShore. The scenic fabric used takes you mentally to a far away place, perhaps for a much needed vacation. I can imagine using this pillow in a guest room or on a kitchen window seat.
The colors in the fabric have just the right level of ‘pop’ without being jarring.
I love the Lighthouse Scenic Toile
pillow. It’s elegant, classy and I adore the style o toile since I can remember myself. It gives a feeling of true luxury, elegance and heritage. It tells a story, and is part of the French legacy. My grandmother had a set of British porcelain tea set which I’m obsessed with, and I think it would be the perfect complimentary piece to it. Plus I think it will go nicely with my Louis Ghost chair, designed by Philippe Starck for kartell http://www.utilitydesign.co.uk/mall/UtilityDesign/customerimages/products/l_UT30011.jpg
The one you hate? Easy. The Antique Urn Linen Pillow. Pale, boring, blah. Totally not you.
I like all of the others, but any unsuspecting cute little pillow would be used to skid across the floor on by my kids. Or get ripped to shreds by the dog.
The Orient Modern Floral Pillow caught my eye! My Grandmother just gifted me her set of Oriental “Geisha Girl” porcelain dolls which I absolutely ADORE and I’d like to start decorating my living room around them. The orange color in the pillow also caught my eye since orange is my favorite color!
Gorgeous!!
When I look at “Italian Seashore” I imagine that’s me sitting in the window of the red house, feeling the sea air and drinking in my delicious view.
I like the Orient Modern Floral since it would perfectly match the new deep brown L couch I purchased on Friday… And I do believe L couches require good corner pillows.
I really like the Coral and Aqua Silk Plaid Pillow. Colors are vibrant and evoke a sense of joy.
My hands-down favorite is the Coral and Aqua Silk Plaid Pillow – because Coral happens to be my favorite color. You know how everyone has that one color that they look sensational in? Well, Coral’s my color- I can go out with bad hair,no make up yet wearing my coral coat and get compliments all day.
I believe a girl should decorate her home in the colors most flattering to her so she’ll always be seen in the proverbial best light thus coral is finding it’s way more and more into my home. Silk appeals to my inner diva – I love raw silk curtains, silk pillows – I’ve even a a pair of antique French bergers covered in canary yellow silk.
Last but not least the plaid appeals to the me that was I was before I became who I am. I’m American, an Oklahoma farm girl, who has taken life by the horns and has lived the past 10 years in Europe – first in Paris, then in Amsterdam and now Berlin. The plaid is a little bit country, yet a little European chic just as well – it’s just like me, a blend of my past & present!
All the best,
Toma Haines, aka The Antiques Diva
By the way, my guess that the pillow you don’t like is the one with the Italian scene. It’s just a little too kitsch as opposed to the classy things you normally choose!
My fav is the Coral and Aqua Silk Plaid Pillow! My colors! Gorgeous pillows all but every girl has to have a favorite and I am always drawn to the beautiufl colors of coral!
The Palma Tropical definitely! Clean, crisp, contemporary. I too am a fan of red..combined with anything! My front hall and study are the fabulous Farrow & Ball “Blazer” red. Then my living room curtains are a red & white toile. Have to admit also that the Coral & Aqua Silk Plaid is a close runner-up, but I just don’t go for silk in a big way: much prefer linen/cotton.
Okay, this is a really hard choice … what a fab selection of pillows. If I had to pick my fav, it’d be the Palma Tropical. Reminds me of some of the gorgeous summer homes I’ve seen in Laguna Beach, Newport Coast and Newport Beach, CA.
Love the coral silk. This pillow has all of my favorite colors. The colors of the earth. The gorgeous aqua reminds me of the beautiful Atlantic Ocean and our flowing rivers. The shades of coral and rust remind me of the clay in the earth, our deep firey sunsets and the wonderful colors during the change of seasons.
I like the Antique Urn Linen Pillow. It would look great on the chair in my bedroom.
