On February 25th at 8pm EST in the USA interior designers worldwide are getting together to answer your questions on Twitter. How does this work if you’re not following the designers or you don’t know who they are? There are several ways you can participate – the hashtag for the event is #IDzinechat, which means if you do a search for that phrase you will see the list of people involved in the question and answer session.
The designers involved are:
@irwinfelddesign, @maybellinete, @BilletCollins, @Norbridge, @ SusanSerraCKD, @averydesign, @abcdesign, @tkpleslie, @WandaSHorton
I won’t be there because 8pm EST is 3am Israel time – I’ll be sleeping 🙂 I’m just going to have my stream open that night and I’ll read the happenings the following morning. However, for all of you in the US or more sympathetic time zones – enjoy the chat!

Thanks so much for writing this post about the first ever #IDZinechat on Twitter. It’s so appreciated.
Just a bit of background for anyone wanting to know more..and, although, I appreciate you including me in the list of *designers* participating, I am not a designer (anymore). I left the field 8 years ago when I started my company, The Kaleidoscope Partnership, which does social media work exclusively for the home furnishings industry.
I suggested the idea of the chat, though, to my great Twitter friend and interior designer, Wanda S Horton and she, very graciously and for free, has spent untold hours pulling it all together both via email and online so EVERY interior designer around the world who wishes to participate and answer the questions people will ask-can.
It’s very rare that someone acts so selflessly in the field of interior design and what Wanda is doing is a huge act of giving to others so everyone-interior designers, furniture mfgs. and retailers, interior design magazines, and, most especially, the legions of design lovers out there who would love to use an interior designer and/or buy furniture/home accessories, but want the whole process demystified and more transparent before they invest their time and *very precious these days” money.
EVERYONE involved in ANY aspect of the interior design or furniture industry from around the world (and, it goes without saying-anyone on twitter at that time who wants to ask them questions) is invited to be online at 8pm ET USA time next Thursday, February 25th for the 1st ever #IDzinechat. We hope every Twitter friend of any of us who has a question about interior design will ask it of any one of the designers who are already -or will now choose to- participate.
Since Twitter is a consumer facing communication platform, it is my hope that the seed I planted in Wanda will sprout- through the incredibly nurturing care with which she has watered it and helped it to take root -into a beautiful tree whose branches will provide a limb of support to everyone involved in any way with the furniture industry.
All of us involved in any way with furniture and interior design know how much consumers care about their homes and, unfortunately, how confused they are. By participating in the #IDZinechat and following the hashtag, Twitter friends will be able, hopefully, to gain multiple perspectives from all the designers answering their questions. This, we hope, will give them the confidence they need to make informed decisions if and whenever they are ready to create spaces for living that truly support them emotionally, spiritually and physically-no matter how little or how much money they may have.
Wanda has a much more extensive list of who is participating now…pls. ask her for it so everyone can know the designers and others who are giving so kindly of their time to help make this happen.
I hope you might change your mind, Shira, and set your alarm for 3 am (my hour of arising in the US!! ) and join us to add your unique insights, too!
Thanks again, Shira, for writing this post-it is sincerely appreciated~~and please remember, if you participate, please use the hashtag #IDZinechat at the end of every tweet so ALL around the world can see the questions and answers!
And, remember..it isn’t me..it’s @WandaSHorton on Twitter who is hosting and in charge..I am just helping her through my social media work to get the word out since she is a working interior designer and doesn’t get to spend as much time online as I do. Thanks!
We’ll be there to answer questions about lighting, pattern mixing, and customization of home furnishings.
