First we had “Wall-E the robot and now we have “Wally, the living wall system”. I had an uncle Wally and never associated the name with anything futuristic, but there seems to be a new wave of Wally’s in the world.
Here’s the living wall system from woollypocket.com, an LA / Phoenix based design group that prides themselves on sustainable products. This is a very happening idea when it comes to putting on the green. The indoor-outdoor system itself is made from recycled plastic bottles which is breathable and this in turn helps keeps the soils oxygen supply fresh.
I had a good chuckle at this “living handbag”. I guess every company needs one product that just raises the roof when it comes to the absurd.
But I actually think that most of the products in this line of green stuff are pretty functional and I can totally see using them in a design and decorating scenario. The only drawback is “who’s going to water all of those plants”?

Patti,
Love “Wally” – but have to make 2 separate point:
1) The movie is Wall-E. I know. I have it. And have seen it. 2 million blessed times with The Boys. Really. Cute movie, mind. Good moral. But 2 million times?
2) The watering system actually doesn’t have to be that difficult. You can set these up with a simple drip system (tuftafot in Israel). The only issue is where you’re getting the water from and where the pipes will be.

I like it! But a wee bit pricey for a student.
I love this! Love plants, love bags and space saving ideas. Nice find!
Woolly pockets are a great design. They make gardening on a wall simple with their designs. Plus the pockets are made out of recycled material.
