Ella’s Dreidel Collection
Hanukkah is my favorite holiday, celebrating the blessing of light. Gathering with friends for potato pancakes, lighting the hanukkiah and spinning the dreidel…
*Sivivon is the hebrew word for “dreidel” which comes from the word lesovev “to spin”
The Hebrew Letters on The Dreidel (is one letter missing?)
You can take this holiday one step further with this fun needlepoint dreidel craft. I thought this was a cute idea and when you are done you will have a tchochke to call your own!
Happy Hanukkah!
Tchochkes holiday craft: Needlepoint dreidel
is one letter missing?
depends where you are. in chu’l, it’s “nes gadol haya sham” while here in israel our svivomin have a “pay” for “nes gadol haya poh.”
sorry, that’s “svivoNiM.”
I always wonder if there is a right way to spell the “Hebrew to English”, in this case I do think that it warranetd a correction.
Here in Israel I spell my name פאטי with an aleph after the Pay just to make sure of the “Paaati” pronunciation, otherwise it is Peti… not a nice word in hebrew.
🙂
