Yaakov Sasson is best described as an eccentric. I talked with him a bit, but I couldn’t quite tell whether he lived here or if this was his work space or gallery. According to Houses From Within “The roof top on Alfasi is not a house but really an institution.” Which doesn’t really answer my question either. I think you’ll see what I’m saying though when you check out his place.
Above is the hallway to get up to the rooftop. There are so many brilliant elements here. Some of my favorites were:
The hanging candle holder. It’s beautiful. Simple. Looks fantastic on the wall.
Metal strip wrapped around a wood shelf with a glass jar on top and a candle inside. I love that the metal is rusted, adding to the texture and color of the piece.
Mosaic tabletop. Colorful. Filled with movement.
Another mosaic tabletop – but this one reminds me of the 70’s in color and pattern. I can see the avocado green kitchen now…
I’m not pregnant – it’s just not a flattering outfit that I’m apparently never going to wear ever again. Jeez!
Oh – and there’s a great mirror in the stairwell with this cool handmade metal chair.
When you walk on to the rooftop the floor is all of wood from crates, doors and whatnot.
Yaakov’s living room is more like a playroom. Sofas for lounging parents and wooden blocks for kids. There was no room with a bed, but as I mentioned he wasn’t clear about where he lived – I’m assuming this is his gallery and he has a flat somewhere in Florentine. Although – one could sleep on the sofa…
Hungry? Outside stove.
A rather messy kitchen sink – but I like that it’s facing a window and there are plants in front. I see a lot of potential here.
That’s the door to the bathroom. I want to come here in the middle of the night and steal it for my own. It’s amazing!
I want this railing. I want this railing. I want to spray paint it an intense sky blue, add some sort of legs to it, add a glass top and use it as my kitchen table. I love it.
A sweet nook to sit and swing.
And the man who made it all happen – Yaakov Sasson.

I love it. I would be happy to live there myself. It looks like such a fun and warm space. Does he want a roomate?
I love it! Unlike Shelly I couldn’t live there, but I really do love it!
