Before
I was in great need of a workspace. Before the change, our home computer was in my daughters room which was very limiting. I could not do any work after her “bedtime”, a time that is creative for me. Also, in my profession of Feng Shui all electronic equipment is forbidden in bedrooms; I am a firm believer of this practice. The energy in her room felt better immediately after removing the computer.
The project took only two days to complete. I invited a computer technician to run the computer connection wires from the bedroom into the living room, from here it was smooth sailing. Next I rearranged the art. I moved the mirror that was hanging on the wall where the shelves now hang and I retired one piece of art.
I went to the Shuk of Pishpishime in Tel Aviv and found the small side table that is now my desk. I made a quick trip to IKEA and found the green storage boxes and the shelves which I painted a salmon color to match the decorative column nearby.
Shopping smarts:
*To avoid sizing mistakes, always bring exact measurements when looking for something specific.
*It seems that all of Israel goes to IKEA on Friday’s, to avoid the crowds try to go on a weekday when it is less packed.

The biggest adjustment was pushing the couch forward about 6″, this gave the new office area some breathing room and space to push the chair in and out. If a home office is thoughtfully designed, it can morph into a room without disturbing the balance of the space.
