Indian Silk market
Silk, just the name makes me envision smooth, shiny beautifully constructed fabric. Silk is known for its divine quality and soft hand. The first silk came from China way back in 6000BC. Today over 30 different countries produce silk. Qualities range from high end to the lesser expensive raw silk.
Silk looks luxurious even in it’s natural form. It is one fiber that takes dye extremely well, especially brights.
I found these home furnishings from Multree, a British company that ships world wide. Silk is not inexpensive and neither are these, but if you want silk you’ll have to pay the price for this luxury.
Years ago parachutes were made of silk, but today most parachutes are made of nylon for its superior strength. I call silk a magic fabric. It is light weight, it is absorbant and keeps you cool in the summer and it is a natural insulator that keeps you warm in the winter without the bulk.
