Hanging Lamps by Diane Graves
The hanging fringe on this lamp is what originally caught my eye, I can surely appreciate creative lighting when I see it. Diane Graves is somewhat of an artist disguised as a lighting designer. Her one of a kind pieces are whimsical with a spiritual touch. The fringe on the lamps here are found objects, a theme that is carried out in many of her lighting designs and a touch that personalizes much of her work.
Another specialized piece is this family photo lamp, I think this one is cool. Taking an old photo and adding a spot of light to it is such a great way to keep the memory of our loved ones alive.
“YES” seems to be the word of the times, popularized by the Obama campaign and now right on target here in this lamp… the power of positive thinking, oh yeah!
Yes, yes, YES!
Diane calls herself a “Kitchen Table Artist” since her work began one day while she was sitting at her kitchen table. She combined her spiritual life connection with the element of light “shining spiritually” through in her work. Being an artist at heart I can totally relate to this cause.
This one is a jewel. Custom made lighting like the one shown here can be ordered and shipped anywhere, even here. The lamp below is also a custom order, what a beautiful use of sea glass.
Now I know what to do with my collection of sea glass…
Artist review: Diane Graves
My late grandmother was an avid lamp collector. Reading your post brought back some wonderful memories of being a small child and the delight that came when she’d take a prism from on of her lamps and let me play with it in the sun.
The sea glass chandelier doesn’t resonate with me at all…but I don’t college sea glass either. =)
HI Seth,
You don’t by any chance have a photo of her collection? That sounds magnificant.
